A LITTLE PREPARATION.

A BEAUTIFUL NEW CHAPTER.

A LITTLE PREPARATION. A BEAUTIFUL NEW CHAPTER.

Your memories deserve
a clear beginning.

You don’t need special equipment to get started. Choose one of the three methods below, then send us the clearest digital copy you can.

Use your phone

The easiest place to start.

Try Google PhotoScan

Helpful for shiny prints and glare.

Choose a professional scan

A good choice for precious originals.

Soft daylight, a steady phone, and the whole picture in view.

01 / SIMPLE & CONVENIENT

A good photo
of your old photo.

1 · Find soft, even light

Place the print flat near a window. Turn off the flash and move until reflections and shadows disappear.

2 · Keep your phone level

Clean the camera lens. Hold the phone directly above the print, parallel to it. Use the main camera and avoid digital zoom.

3 · Check the details

Tap to focus, keep all four edges in the frame, and take the photo. Zoom in afterward: faces should look as sharp as the original allows.

Send the original camera file. Screenshots and images forwarded through messaging apps can lose detail.

02 / HELPFUL FOR GLOSSY PRINTS

Less glare.
More of the memory.

PhotoScan by Google Photos combines several captures to help reduce glare and straighten the edges of a printed photograph.

1 · Open PhotoScan

Install PhotoScan using Google’s official download page. Place your print on a flat surface in even light.

2 · Follow the capture guides

Frame the whole photograph and take the first picture. Move your phone to each on-screen guide as the app directs.

3 · Review and save

Check faces and edges, adjust the corners if needed, and save the scan. Upload the saved image file, rather than a screenshot.

Get Google PhotoScan

Keep your originals safe. Send us the digital files; there is no need to mail your photographs to Moments Revived.

03 / FOR YOUR MOST TREASURED ORIGINALS

Give every detail
room to return.

A local photo lab or scanning service can create detailed digital copies—especially useful for small prints, albums, or a larger collection.

1 · Ask for a careful scan

Explain that these are irreplaceable family photographs. For fragile prints or photos stuck in an album, ask about safe handling before anything is removed.

2 · Request useful settings

For ordinary photo prints, ask for a 600 dpi color scan as a starting point, even if the picture is black and white. The lab can advise on smaller prints or negatives.

3 · Keep one file per photo

Request high-quality JPEG files with no added filters or automatic restoration. Keep any archival TIFF originals the lab supplies as your own backup.

Already have a scanner? A careful flatbed scan at home can work well too. Check the faces at full size before sending.

A quick check before you send.

Clear, complete photos

Include the whole photograph. Check for focus, glare, shadows, and clipped faces. One image file per photo is ideal.

The original digital files

Choose the full-quality camera image or scan. Avoid screenshots, collages, heavy filters, and copies saved from social media.
